Instruments

Here you find photos and descriptions of some of the instruments I made. Unless otherwise noted in the description, all the instruments are available for trial at my workshop.

Violin, 2025

Antonio Stradivari is probably the most famous violin maker that ever lived, and most modern makers find inspiration in his work. Here, I chose to copy a Stradivari pattern from 1713, his so-called “golden period”, in an instrument that combines boldness with elegance.

Violin, 2024

This violin is modelled after an instrument by Carlo Bergonzi from the mid-1730s. Visually it’s characterised by the long C-bout, flaring upper corners and the dramatic scroll design, which became Bergonzi’s most easily recognisable trademark.

Cello, 2024

Antonio Stradivari developed his B form cello in the early 1700s. The model is smaller than the large bass instruments of the previous century, which makes it easier to play quick, virtuosic passages, and it is a popular model with modern cellists.

Viola, 2024

Based on the instrument known as the ‘Conte Vitale’, made by Andrea Guarneri in 1676, this viola has a body length of 41.8cm. For this instrument I was lucky to be able to use a spectacular piece of slab-cut birch for the back, which shows a beautiful pattern of broad flames.
